It contains important information about obtaining your license. The vehicle must have a rear seat for the parent to use during the road portion of the test. The vehicle must be in very good working condition and clean. Items that will be inspected by the examiner are all lights, wipers, windshield washer fluid, mirrors, horn, seat belts, tires and lug nuts, speedometer, brake lights (3 total), brakes, exhaust system, and windshield (cracks or damage). If the vehicle fails one of these areas, it will not be acceptable for the road test and would result in a failure on the test. The road test will last about one hour and has two parts. The first part will be in a parking lot and the student will perform three maneuvers. They are outlined in detail in the study guide. The student must pass this portion before doing the on-road part. The road portion is approximately twelve (12-18) miles and will last about thirty (30) minutes. If under 18 years old a parent rides along during this part and will be asked to be a silent observer. I will give directions and score as we travel along. Our conversation will be kept to a minimum and I will not offer coaching tips. It is very important that the student drive safely and obeys all traffic laws. There are items that will result in an automatic failure and they are outlined on Driving Skills Test guide.
The test site is where we will start and finish the test. In the event of questionable weather call the testing location phone number at least one hour prior to the test.
